Transfer Credits for Military Education
As a college that accepts military credits, Oakton can help you get even more out of your time in service by turning your military experience into transfer credits.

Important Application Information
- The admission process varies if you are enrolling in a Health career program, or applying as an international or concurrent student.
- Review Transfer Credits for Military Education.
- The Military Benefit Request Form must be completed before registering for classes.
- After the Military Benefit Request form has been submitted and processed, a financial aid payment plan must be established before the tuition due date. Please email veteranbenefits@oakton.edu if the Financial Aid EZ Payment Plan does not show up as an option on your myOakton account.
- Visiting Student: Please complete the military benefits request form and work with your home institution to provide Oakton with a parent letter for your enrollment with us. You can email the completed form to veteranbenefits@oakton.edu with your student ID number in the subject line. Once we've received both documents, we can certify your enrollment.
- Students utilizing State benefits, which include the MIA-POW scholarship, IVG, and ING, must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA in order to utilize these benefits.
- Chapter 33 beneficiaries cannot swap to Chapter 31 after their benefits have been certified for the term.
- Students applying for Chapter 31 should work with their academic advisor to create their academic plan and submit a benefits request form indicating their intent to utilize chapter 31. New students should complete this process during their enrollment steps if degree seeking. Certificate seeking applicants should schedule an appointment with their academic advisor to complete their academic plan.
- All scholarship, veteran and financial assistance recipients must enroll in the Financial Aid EZ Pay Payment Plan—even if tuition and fees are covered in full—because any change in enrollment status may decrease eligibility for financial aid.
