Skokie entrywayThe Oakton Caring Closet, located on the Des Plaines and Skokie campuses, are where Oakton students can get essentials like food and items for self-care, such as soap and toothpaste. These items are offered free of charge and with discretion.

Studies show that when students don't have the things they really need, it can make it hard for them to do well in school. At Oakton in 2018, a survey found that 31 percent of students said they sometimes didn't have enough food. The Caring Closet seeks to support students with these most basic needs so they can focus on their studies.

Students can also contact Oakton Care Coordinators to be connected to more long-term supports.
Student at computer. The Student Technology Fund provides essential technology tools, like laptops and hotspots, to help students stay on track in their educational journeys. By supporting this fund, you are ensuring that students have the necessary technology resources to learn and study on the go, even as they balance work, school, and family commitments. Your contribution directly helps students persist and succeed, empowering them with the technology they need to thrive in today’s digital world.
